Non-Immigrant Category "ED" Visa for taking an Education Course in Thailand

The non-immigrant category ED visa is available for persons who are travelling to Thailand for the purpose of undertaking an Education Course in Thailand.

IMPORTANT
The information below is provided on the basis that the applicant will be applying for their visa in person at the Royal Thai Consulate Hull. Persons intending to apply elsewhere for their visa need to check with the relevant authority.
The issuing of all Non-Immigrant Visas must be authorised by the Royal Thai Embassy, London prior to being issued and this process can take up to one week. When we receive authority to issue we will invite you to visit us and the visa will be issued usually within one hour.

The information on this page is available as a PDF document Download

This visa is available with single entry only which is valid for three months from date of issue and allows a single stay in Thailand of up to 90 days. If wishing to stay longer it will be necessary to visit a Thai Immigration Office near to where you will be staying and enquire about the procedure for extending your stay.

So that we can obtain authorisation from the London Embassy to issue this visa it is necessary for the applicant to submit to us all documents relative to this visa therefore we request you to email scanned copies of the following to thaienquiries@thaiconsul-uk.com

  1. Copy of the page of your passport with photo and details (passport must have minimum 6 months remaining validity at time of applying for the visa).
  2. Completed Visa Application Form with two recent passport size photographs attached.
  3. Copy of supporting letter from Thai School/College/University/Other at which the applicant will be studying. (A suggested draft of this letter can be found in the PDF Download of this page)
  4. Copy of Course Enrolment documents.
  5. Copy of supporting letter from UK School / College / University / Other for applicants who will be attending the Thai School / College / University / Other as part of their course at the UK School / College / University / Other (if applicable).

Because it can be difficult for the visa applicant to know if all the documents which we require are correct we offer a service whereby the visa applicant can email to us in advance scans of all documents received from the employer plus scans of their passport page with photo and details and their completed Visa Application Form for us to check and forwarding to the London Embassy requesting authority to issue the visa.

If anything is missing or is incorrect we will inform the applicant. If everything appears to be correct we will invite the applicant to visit us so that we can issue the visa. Applicants who do not take advantage of this service may find that, when they visit us in person, we are unable to issue the visa because they have not provided all the required documentation.

When you visit the Royal Thai Consulate at Hull to apply for this visa you will need to bring with you the following:-

  1. Your passport (minimum 6 months remaining validity and with at least two blank pages for the visa and for entry/exit stamps).
  2. Two recent passport size photographs as available from a photo booth.
  3. Original completed Visa Application Form.
  4. Visa fee of £60 (single entry) plus £10 processing charge = £70 in cash only.
