Visas & Downloads

Visas for Thailand are required in the following circumstances:-

• For tourism purposes only:
The need to apply for a tourist visa is determined by nationality and length of stay. Please check the Visa requirements link below to find out if you need a visa:
V2 - Visa Requirements by Nationality 2016

Persons who are entitled to enter Thailand under the Visa Exemption rule or the Visa on Arrival rule without a visa for tourism purposes must be in possession of a confirmed international flight ticket to show that they will be exiting Thailand within the period allowed according to their nationality.

Without such evidence of exiting it will be necessary to obtain a tourist visa before embarking on your journey to Thailand. Nationals who must apply for a visa at the Royal Thai Embassy must do so in person and for more information they will need to check with the Embassy.

Persons travelling on a UK Travel Document (blue cover) must apply for a visa whatever their nationality or length of stay. Furthermore, where such persons can apply for their visa is determined by their nationality.

• For all purposes other than tourism:
The appropriate visa must be obtained. For information about visas for purposes other than tourism please see the "Visa Application Pack" and "Extra Evidence For Non-Immigrant Visas" downloads below.

All visas must be obtained prior to entering Thailand. For persons travelling from the UK to Thailand, visas can only be obtained from the Royal Thai Embassy or Royal Thai Consulate.

More Visa Info

Thailand is a hugely popular tourist destination. Almost one million Britains visit Thailand for tourism purposes each year with nearly half being return visitors. More UK nationals visit Thailand than any other nation within the EU.

Thailand has long been known for the rich diversity of its attractions, but the continuing development of the Kingdom’s tourism means that there are still more waiting to be discovered.

A land of golden temples stunning tropical beaches and forested hills, Thailand is a veritable oasis in an increasingly hectic world. Secure in its devotion to the Buddhist faith and to its beloved King, it merges a centuries-old culture with way of life that preserves its identity and gracious natural hospitality.

For sightseeing and travel, Thailand has few equals. From dazzling temples and palaces to awe-inspiring World Heritage Sites; from timeless rural settlements to vibrant resort towns; from idyllic beaches to national parks where wild nature rules, the choice of where to go and what to see is limitless.
